So I’ve been noticing a small trend in sugar skulls. I wonder is this is just for Austin TX. Anyways, being a tattoo artist you see various trends come and go. Some bad, some awesome, some horrible.
Anyhow, glad its sugar skulls. These are always fun to tattoo!
Unfortunately this thing is trending as well:
I’m going to say it plain as day, I hate tattooing this thing!!! Not because it’s ugly, but because I can’t stand tattooing it anymore. Do you know how many times I’ve tattooed that exact image of that bird! And don’t get me wrong, I LOVE TATTOOING BIRDS! It’s just that exact bird I’m sick of!
I can safely say that I’ve must have tattooed it at least 100 times in my career and if youre a tattoo artist you know what I’m talking about here! There are alternatives to a more beautiful birds to get tattooed out there people. How do you get that alternative? By showing your reputable tattoo artist some references or some images you love and have them custom draw it for you. You’ll get something more bad ass than your thought and most tattoo artists love tattooing there own custom drawings which means a really KICK ASS TATTOO, and sometimes a bargain because they just want to tattoo such a sweet image! That’s how you get the best work out of tattoo artists! Not by telling them you want the same tattoo you saw from google images. Wanting something that resembles what you’ve seen is perfectly fine! But make it your own. Make it as original as you are. Make it… YOU!
